60% or more, depending on candidate

Office location:
Mechelen and Beernem

Fixed office days:
Monday in Mechelen, one other day per week in Beernem 

Required languages:
Dutch and English (mandatory)
French (nice to have)

Job Description
Description/Role:
We’re looking for a Legal Counsel for our client, a small company with around 30 employees. The role involves providing hands-on legal support, primarily focusing on commercial contracts with clients and suppliers.

Responsibilities:
• Provide legal support to our client in its daily business operations
• Draft and review commercial contracts and other standard documentation (e.g., terms and conditions)
• Set up legal compliance processes for our clients’ interactions with partners
• Assess the requirements for long-term legal support and advise on how to organize it
• Develop guidelines and provide training where necessary
• Collaborate with the commercial and sales departments
• Address issues such as customer non-payment and other legal queries
 
Requirements & Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in law
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience, including in-house experience
• Good all-round legal knowledge, with expertise in commercial law (public tendering, private contracting, ICT contracts, IP law)
• Fluent in Dutch, English, and French
• Genuine interest in the technology sector and complex IT services
 
Must have skills:
• In-depth knowledge of commercial law
• Experience with contract drafting and negotiation
• Ability to provide practical legal advice
• Strong organizational skills
 
Nice to have skills:
• Knowledge of public tender processes
• Strong change management skills
• Experience in the telecom or digital signage sector
• Familiarity with IP rights related to software and digital platforms
